Unfortunately the developer of phpmyvisites has taken the 'high horse' view on this in that Microsoft should conform to standards, the only advice being given to switch to a CSS/XHTML compliant web browser.

However much we dislike Microsoft alienating all IE7 users (havn't tested to see if this problem exists in eralier versions) isnt particularily helpful to those who may be stuck with this particular browser.

I hope the developer reconsiders their previous statements and provides a 'fix' to this problem which spoils an otherwise excellent, free open source web statistic package

Well, I am a JavaScript developer myself (for over 8 years), and alienating 40% of the browser market, just because you have issues with the document object model not being properly supported, seems narrow minded to me. All this situation requires is some if-thens and additional code to support other browsers.

In my opinion, the goal of a web application should be cross-platform compatibility (otherwise, why use the web?). Not some standards document that means nothing to most of the people that use the web. And, in my opinion, it is really amateurish and childish, by refusing to go beyond the standards guide, and learning how to do it the right way, which has and always will be cross-platform oriented scripting, and of even greater importance, accessibility. For example, is there a way to turn off the Javascript menus? They interfere with the functional presentation of the interface, and should be changed. Who cares about your theoretical values.
We just want something that works!

I won't be using this script and neither will a lot of other people, because of this lack of support. What's the point in that? .Supporting France? How about an all-inclusive approach, instead of a standards 'club'?

Just my two cents...

Sorry guys but I'm not this standards guru you say I am. I'd be happy to patch phpmyvisites if you send me the fix :-) but Im not working on phpmv anymore, as all our efforts are put into the piwik http://piwik.org
